New Year’s Resolutions for Skin Care

The New Year is the perfect time to make personal commitments that will help improve ourselves. The first step is to identify the changes we want to make. The next step is to have the personal determination) to follow through on the changes. With this in mind, here are some suggested New Year’s resolutions to help you have the best looking skin possible.

1) Establish a Daily Skin Care Routine
Those who invest time and effort in caring for their skin, will realize the benefits and see the results.

2) Reduce Stress
Try to reduce stress in your life as much as possible. Take time to do the things that make you feel happy and relaxed.

3) Wear Sunscreen Every Day
Doctors have long advised wearing sunscreen daily (at least SPF 30) and reapplying it often. The challenge is finding a cream that offers enough protection and doesn't feel like a lead blanket.
OMORFEE recommends you to use natural skin care products on your skin.
Highly suggested – SUNSHUN SUNSCREEN (Order today and don’t be harsh on your gentle skin- http://www.omorfee.com/facial-care/sunshun-sunscreen)

4) The Benefits of Sleep
Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. When you sleep your body is still working to rid itself of toxins that are detrimental to your skin. Sufficient sleep keeps unattractive dark circles away, reduces stress and revitalizes your entire persona.

5) Keep Your Hands Off Your Face
Yes, it's tempting to squeeze a pimple, but just the act of touching your face with your fingers brings pore-clogging oil and dirt to the skin. How not to pop? Get rid of magnifying mirrors, put "Don't touch" Post-it notes around the house, and grab a squeeze toy to keep your hands busy, especially if certain times of day (morning drive?) trigger the urge.

6) Drink Plenty of Water
Our bodies are comprised mostly of water, approximately 60-70%. Water is essential to life and everything in your body needs it. Water also helps flush toxins out of your system and helps organs function properly.

7) Remove Your Make Up At Night
Wearing makeup can make you look and feel great! However you need to remove it every night. If you don’t, it can mix with dirt and other oils to clog your pores which can cause unsightly break outs.

8) Clean Your Makeup Brushes Once a Week
Unless you won the school science fair, you probably don't realize what can happen when good brushes go bad: Makeup and skin oils build up, creating a breeding ground for bacteria that can cause irritation. Bacteria and oil can accumulate on your makeup brushes, causing clogged pores and breakouts. Use a mild liquid soap with warm water to carefully wash the makeup out of your brushes, then rinse thoroughly. Comb the bristles to prevent tangling. Then dry on a towel overnight or place towel in sunlight. Cosmetic sponges should also be washed with mild soap and rinsed thoroughly after each use.

9) Wash Your Face and Body Right After Exercising
Exercising is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Take a shower as soon as you can after your work out to keep your skin looking clear and clean.  Perspiration and grime left too long on skin can clog pores and cause breakouts.

10) Exfoliate Regularly
As adults, it takes our skin about one month to replenish itself. Skin cells can dry out and loose their luster making our complexions look dull. Boost the renewal process through exfoliating treatments. For best results, exfoliate once or twice a week.

11) Stay with the Program
Once you start a new skin care program, you need to be patient and give it time to work. If you use the products consistently and as directed, you should see results in six weeks or less. If you do not see any change in your skin then chances are these products are not for you.

12) Moisturize After Showering or Bathing
Hot showers and baths feel wonderful but can strip skin of precious oils. Face creams along with body oils and lotions will help replenish skins natural moisture content. For best results, apply creams, lotions and oils right after showering or bathing while skin is still damp.
It’s time to Pamper your skin and order today-

13) Have mercy on your hands
Your hands say a lot about you. With our busy lives, we often forget to take care of our hands. Woman have known for years, that taking care of your hands is vital in maintaining an overall youthful appearance. Many factors can age your hands – exposure to wind, sun and cold. To keep your hands young looking, moisturize them at least twice a day or whenever you think of it. Keep hand cream everywhere you can think of: next to your bedside, in your car, by your desk, in your purse or gym bag. For an intensive overnight treatment, moisturize hands with a rich cream. Then go to sleep with white cotton gloves. In the morning your hands will feel much softer and smoother. Also, protect hands by wearing gloves when doing dishes, housework and gardening.

How To Control Hair Fall in Winter

It is in winters when our hair problems are at their worst. With the cold setting in and lack of moisture in the air, hair problems like dandruff, dryness, hair fall and scalp itchiness are common. While there are many reasons behind hair fall, here are a few common causes that lead to hair fall. Understanding these causes would be a better way of trying to prevent further damage to the hair.

1. Keep The Dandruff Away:
Dandruff is one of the most common issues that occur because of extreme dryness of the scalp. It is one of the main causes of hair fall in winter. Use an anti-dandruff cleanser to prevent hair fall.

2. Don’t Tie Your Hair Too Tight:
Tight ponytails or braids are a big no if you’re trying to control hair fall in winters. Wear your hair loose, even while going to bed.

3. Gentle Combing: In winters, hair is already dry and damaged due to lack of moisture in the air. Try and comb only when required and be as gentle as you can.

4. Have A Healthy Diet:
Have a Healthy Diet: Include loads of vitamins and minerals in your diet by having fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and nuts. Make sure you stay away from processed food, sugary items, and fatty food. This will help control hair fall.

5. Hot Oil Treatment: Using a hot oil treatment during winters is a great way to add nourishment to your hair and prevent hair fall. Apply some warm olive oil or coconut oil on the scalp and the hair strands. Leave it for about 1-2 hours. This should be done at least once a week to give you the desired result.

6. Apply An Avocado Mask: Avocados are supposed to have lots of vitamins and minerals that can deep nourish the hair strands and treat dryness and hair fall. A mask made of mashed avocados can be applied on the hair and left for 45 minutes before washing. Follow it every 7 days to get the results.
Avocado can also be mixed with banana as one of the other masks for the same     treatment.

7. Eggs for Dry Damaged Hair:

The best food for hair is protein because it is made up of protein only. What else than egg can be the best source of high class protein for your dry and damaged hair. Egg yolk is rich in fat and protein and is highly moisturizing that adds lots of moisture to your dehydrated hair. Egg white on the other hand, is loaded with beneficial enzymes that cleanse your hair and scalp to give you a shining bouncy hair. You may simply beat 1-2 eggs and apply to your hair or make a more moisturizing hair mask with eggs as one of the main ingredients. Here’s the recipe.

8. Honey and Olive Oil:

This mask is good for both hair and the scalp. It will make your hair silky, smooth, and shiny.
Add equal parts honey and olive oil into a bowl. Mix well. Apply to damp hair, scalp, and cover your hair with a warm, damp towel. Let it sit for 30 minutes, and then wash off with a mild shampoo.

Say ‘GOODBYE’ to dry and frizzy hair!

If you are looking for solutions on how to get rid of frizzy hair, don’t look further than your kitchen. Here are some natural ways to treat frizzy hair-

1.   Vinegar

It might not smell that good, but vinegar is a great and natural way to treat frizzy hair. Just add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water and massage into your hair and scalp; it will condition the hair, add shine and help to remove dandruff as well. Rinse thoroughly after 5-10 minutes! Do it once or twice a week and see wonderful results.
2.   Eggs

To nourish and bring the shine back to your hair, whip one egg into some tepid water and apply it to your hair, massage gently. Wash out with warm water and not hot though, or you’ll end up with an omelette on your head! No need to shampoo. Condition as usual.
3.   Avocado hair mask

Another one from the kitchen: mash one ripe avocado and mix it with two tablespoons of coconut oil to make a smooth paste (use your blender) and apply to your hair as a mask for 20-30 minutes, then shampoo and condition. Use once or twice a week and it will naturally condition your hair, nourish, help to prevent dryness, fight frizz and split ends.
4.   Banana hair mask

Bananas can do wonderful job conditioning and nourishing your hair, relieving dryness and fighting frizz. Here is how to get rid of frizzy hair with this natural banana hair mask: place one ripe banana, two tablespoons of olive oil and one tablespoon of honey in your blender and push the button. Apply this mix on your locks for 20-30 minutes, then shampoo and condition.

5.   Don’t shampoo too often

Everyone likes to have a clean head of hair, but shampooing every day can dry out all the natural moisture from your hair, leaving it dry and frizzy. Try shampooing every two or three days and experiment with some milder shampoos to see if this makes a difference.
6.   Don’t blow dry for too long

Blow drying your hair for too long will dry out the natural oils in your hair and cause the strands of hair to actually shrink, so keep drying time to a minimum. Also, try using a cool setting on your hairdryer; it will be less damaging for your locks and it will help get rid of frizzy hair too.
7.   Brush your hair the right way

The drier your hair, the easier it breaks, the quicker it gets frizzy, so too much brushing (especially harsh and violent brushing) won’t make the frizz go away, it will only make it worse. Avoid brushing your hair when it’s wet, as your hair is more fragile when it’s damp. Also, if you want to know how to get rid of frizzy hair, don’t use harsh movements when towel-drying your locks to avoid breakage.
8.   Coconut oil

Treating frizzy hair with coconut oil will help calm things down. Massage slightly warmed up coconut oil into your hair and scalp. Leave on for about 20-40 minutes (the warm oil will penetrate the scalp and pores, leaving your hair beautifully conditioned); then shampoo and condition.
Another way to use coconut oil to get rid of frizzy hair is to add one teaspoon of coconut oil into your usual shampoo; just mix your usual dose of shampoo with one teaspoon of coconut oil in the palm of your hand (if you have thin hair, use less oil) and wash your hair with it; you’ll see an amazing difference: your hair will be nourished, moisturized, fuzz free and shiny. Try it!
If you have coarse, thick, wavy hair, take a pea-sized drop of coconut oil (or you can also use avocado oil or macadamia nut oil), rub it between your hands and work it through your hair thoroughly, concentrating on the middle length and on the ends (don’t bring the oil near the roots of your hair, because we use it as a leave-in conditioner in this case). This quick tip can easily help you get rid of hair frizz and all the ‘goodness’ of natural oils will nourish your locks, help fight split ends, add shine and gloss.
9.   Protect your hair

Another simple tip on how to get rid of frizzy hair is to keep your locks protected with a hat when you go out in extreme weather conditions. Both sunlight and very cold weather will make your hair frizzy.
10.               How to get rid of frizzy hair? Ponytail can help!

And finally, if you are in a hurry and you don’t have time for all the sophisticated and time-consuming treatments, just braid your hair or do a ponytail. These simple hairstyles take only a couple of minutes to make and will camouflage the frizz easily and quickly.
Sometimes, it’s the very things that you are doing to your hair to get of the frizz that are making it worse! Some of the most common causes of frizzy hair are: shampooing too frequently, hair products with harsh chemicals, brushing too harshly, blow drying too long and excessive sun/wind exposure. Also trim your hair regularly (every 4-5 weeks) to keep your locks looking healthy, beautiful and frizz-free.
